National Preparedness Month

Preparedness Series Part 1: Who thinks we should prepare?

Off and on throughout the fall of last year, the idea of preparedness would come to the front of my mind. I started asking myself questions. What is the least I can do? What would be the most basic thing I could have for my family in the case of an emergency? What can I actually afford?

My biggest question as I further explored the idea became, “Is this Biblical?”.  This one took me awhile. Many scriptures came to mind in support of preparedness, but I would also continue to come back to others that made me have questions.  I started taking some steps forward in the direction of preparedness, all the while, still unsettled on the biblical bottom-line.

That’s when I came upon this site: Homestead Revival. I fell in love with everything about it- it spoke to my rural spirit. I think it will yours too. While gleaning some recipes, I stumbled upon some truth. I’d like to share that here. There is no reason to recreate something that has been done so nicely, so I’ve just added links.

These posts are full of wisdom.

Is Prepping Biblical?

The Spiritual Aspect Of Prepping Biblically.

Getting Your House Financially In Order

Just a few scriptures...

Isaiah 41:1-13
Fear not, I am with you, I am your God.
Micah 4:13

"Rise and thresh, O Daughter of Zion, for I will give you horns of iron; I will give you hoofs of bronze and you will break to pieces many nations." You will devote their ill-gotten gains to the LORD, their wealth to the Lord of all the earth".
Is He saying?:
Come on girl, rise up and find your feet, I am fiercely with you- do what I've called you to do- run after me.  I've got this one! I'm planning on blessing my people through you.

Isaiah 50:7
Because the Sovereign Lord helps me.  I will not be disgraced.  Therefore I have set my face like flint, and I know I will not be put to shame.

 Psalm 91:7
A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.
