Rural Women Rock Rome...

The Lord's been up to a little something lately, and I think it’s time to share with you ladies. It’s not what has been keeping me away, but it is a bit juicy and exciting. I’ve been keeping a little secret for awhile now. Not to be unfair- I just wanted to make sure everything was in place before I shared.
I’d like to tell you a little story…

Last April while waiting for my son to get his haircut, I began visiting with a woman who had just returned from a mission trip in Finland.  If you are reading this and are local, I was visiting with Rhonda Bryant. Ladies, Rhonda spoke to her church about the trip, and the CD is floating around town. She has a sincere word to share, and I hope every woman in our community will have a chance to listen to it. I wish I could find a way to share it here- she would kill me. As she talked to me, I watched my daughter listen intently and with amazement as she spoke sincerely of the power that she had witnessed while doing the Lords work there. She said, “It‘s different there. The women are so open to His power and are hungry for the Lord”.  The Lord did a work on my heart that day while I listened. I never even told Rhonda what I was thinking- I didn't even really know her.  We just listened. That night I began to pray a little prayer that went something like:

"I've exhausted my self doing things on my own accord, so Lord if it is not in your plan I'm okay with that too, but I would like Olivia and I to do missions for you. I'll only go if it is your plan not mine. You will have to put it directly in my lap. I'm not going to go out and search for anything. If you want us to do something, make it very apparent.”

Just a photo break- Our new family photo.

I prayed about it for a few weeks, but I never told a soul. One morning before Mothers Day, I was running around the house- late for work, and the Lord spoke to my spirit, "find your passport".   I thought, "wow! Kasse you really are crazy".  I shruged it off and went to work.  That afternoon I received a phone call from Reba Altizer the woman who had organized the trip Rhonda had went on to Finland.

Now, I hadn't seen or talked to Reba in years other than listening to her and her husband speak to the youth in our community a while back, and even then, I barely got in a Hi. I sort of knew her twenty something years earlier.  She lived one town over. I knew of her because her older sister (by 10 years) was my voice coach. I always thought a lot of her.  She just had a special spirit about her.  She said, "Kasse I know you don't even really know me, but when I was washing dishes this morning, the Lord put it on my heart to call you.  He said, "Rural Women go to Rome." I know you probably think this is so strange, but I’d like for you to pray about going with me and a group of women on a mission trip to Rome.”

Wow, Lord is this you? I told her not to worry, the Lord told me to find my passport earlier this morning, so I thought we might be on the same page.  I began praying for confirmation. I prayed for three weeks and it was coming time to make the decision. We were coming home from school one day and my son asked me if I was going to go on “that mission trip”.  I told him I wasn’t sure. I was praying for conformation.  He turned and looked at me and said, “Mom you prayed specifically to go on missions, the Lord told you to find your passport, a woman you barely know called and asked you to go, and you are praying for confirmation?” So that did it for me. I called her with a yes. I had other personal conditions too.  My daughter had to be able to go since my prayer was a prayer for the two of us. She was welcomed and encouraged by Reba and Olivia's school gave her permission. My husband had to not only agree but support us without reservation.  I sincerely thought this one would be the deal breaker.  There would be no way my husband would agree for me to go, let alone Olivia too.  He would be seeing dollar signs that we did not have.  The Lord has a way to make things happen.  Not only did my husband agree, but he has supported it without exception.  Even when I had no idea how we were going financially, the Lord has had a plan for this one too.  It is still in the works, but I know I will tell you another story about this soon, but enough for now.  We are praying for two more women to go on the trip making it a total of 10.    I would sincerely love for our trip to be in as many prayers as possible.  We will be leaving October 25th through November 7th.  I know the Lord has divine appointments for us there.  I wouldn't be going if He didn't.  Less than 1% of Europe believes in Jesus Christ as our Savior and most missions don't go there.  I also feel like the Lord has put the Jewish women of that country on my heart.  I'm not sure what this is all about, or if it's anything, but I am expecting...To say the least, I can't wait to see what the Lord has prepared for us to do.  He is working on His Kingdom, no doubt! I am more than excited to be apart.

I would love to share our experiences along the way.  I am also dying to tell some of the amazing ways the Lord is working this out for us.

Reba and a team in Finland.

First, I want to take a bit of time and tell you about Reba. I actually mentioned something about her awhile back: You Have a Purpose.  She was the guest speaker at our community women's dinner not long ago.

                                                            Reba and another team.

Reba Altizer is a member of Victory Christian Center in Tulsa, Ok. She graduated from Christ for the Nations in Dallas TX with a bachelor degree in Practical Missions. She has been involved in missions and evangelism for the past 20 years serving in 28 nations. The past 10 years she and her husband have worked at Victory Christian Center as the Coordinators of the Victory World Missions Training Center which is a school to help prepare students for full-time missions work. She has lead women's teams to Italy several times, Slovenia, Finland & Estonia. She has a real desire for women to know they are valuable and to fulfill their God given purpose.

I'm just adding this in the case that this trip speaks directly to the heart of anyone reading.  The following are photos from a few of the teams Reba has organized. I'm also including Reba's email for questions.  rebaaltizer@gmail.com

2  Timothy 1:7-8  For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self -dicipline.  Do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord, or be ashamed of me.

1 John 5:14-15 If we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.

Ephesians 1:11 In Him we were also chosen having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in comformity with the purpose of his will.

Romans 1:16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, becasue it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.

Have a great week!!
