You Have A Purpose

I know it has been so long. When my alarm rang this morning at the designated time for this work
(4:24 a.am.). I almost just rolled over and went back to bed like so many other mornings over the past few months. I’ve just not had it in me. To much life to even want to fit RWR into the mix.
Ladies, I have been doing a great deal of thinking about RWR over the past few months, and although I’ve not actually been here much, the wheels have been turning and prayers have been prayed. I have been in something of a struggle with my spirit. If you are waiting to be featured, please hang in here with me. I’ve put things on simmer for a bit. I can’t begin to tell you the excitement that came with the birth of this site. The awareness that the Lord was moving and working in my life gave me courage and excitement that I had never had before. The fact that I was so ill- equipped, undeserving, lost, and not even sure what the Lord was up to makes me stand in awe. I look back this morning in amazement and think “Wow, I did not do that of my own accord.” It might not seem like much to most of you, but given the time in my life and where I was when I started, it was almost an impossibility that this site even exists.

This morning the Lord nudged me. He reminded me I had a message to share. Then I remembered I did. I’ve had an exciting week to say the least. I am learning when you pray diligently and give the Lord credit for the happenings in your life, he can take you on small amazing journeys every day/every week.

In saying all of that, I also want to include that with all the wonderful and amazing, there has also been insurmountable obstacles and distractions. We are running a race for the Lord. What kind of race would it be if we tossed ourselves on the ground when the first hurdle appeared. (I’m guilty). He is our Leader and our Goal. He didn’t promise the race would be easy, but He did say we would win in Him, but that’s not the message.

The Message:

The Lord is calling you to do something specific. Are you listening? You have a purpose. I have heard this message two times this week. I am going to try to do the best I can to share. I’m going off of some notes so this may come off in a bit of a chicken scratch way, but that’s not the point.

I heard this first on Monday at a Community Women’s Dinner. The speaker was Reba Altizer. You are going to hear more about Reba here as the Lord has put the two of us together. It’s to soon to tell just what he’s doing, but I’m confident I’ll be sharing something soon. This is from Reba’s notes and I added a couple of scriptures.

The only way you can find where you fit in God's big picture is to live a surrendered life.
 Acts 4:12

And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.
 Romans 12:1

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.

Obedience.

If you don’t know ask God. He will show you- either in the still of your heart or through His word.

"And this is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us" (1 John 2:14).

“And I say to you, ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you” (Luke 11:9).

This is prayer- talking with God.

Let Him direct your life- pray.

The challenge:

“Satan comes to steal kill and destroy but Jesus came to give life and life more abundant.”

( John 10:10)

You have to decide who is going to control your life.

You have value: What has happened or will happen does not change your value in Him.

Your value is based on:

The Purchaser who loves you.

1 Corinthians 6:19,20

Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own: you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.

The Price that was paid.

1 Peter 1:18

For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you form your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.

The Position you have been placed.

Eph 2:5-10

But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions- it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of His grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

The Divine Purpose you have been called.

Jeremiah 1:5

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.

Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the plans I have for you, “declares the Lord. “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

The People you can touch.

Eph 2:10

For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

The Potential Inside you.

1 John 4:4

You, dear children, are from God, and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

I heard this same message on Friday night. This time under a bit more controversial circumstances. I jumped in with my mom and went to listen to Glen Beck speak. Now, I didn’t know much about him going into the whole deal, but I had heard he was nuts. I guess I am too, because I thought he was brilliantly funny- a little on the edge. For the most part, his production or what ever you call it, was based on political comedy. At the end however, he became very serious. He was very candid about how he was perceived in the mainstream, he shared about his coming to the Lord. (He had been an alcoholic/failed marriage). He talked about his prayer life, and then he ended by telling the audience this message:

He had prayed and prayed and prayed some more for the Lord to give him a message at D.C. awhile back. I’m not sure exactly what it was, but it was at the Mall. The morning of, his entire staff was sweating it because they felt like he did not know what he was going to say. They were right. He was praying for the message right up until show time.. This was the message God gave him:

God is telling each of you to stand in a certain place (your purpose). Where is he telling you to stand? He likened it to him telling his kids to get in bed and he‘ll be up in a minute to tuck them in. They say, “okay daddy”. Then they head off, but have to pass the living room with the T.V. to get there. They get distracted. He finds them and tells them again to get in bed, and again they say, “okay daddy”. He continues to find them in various places in the house distracted, and he starts to get irritated and then angry. He gives his final warning, “I said get in bed. I‘m coming up.

He went on to say, "Our father is coming. We need to listen to what it is He has told us to do. God is aligning His people and this event is in His hands."

Pretty powerful.

  1. Wonderful post Kassie! A surrendered life; Such an easy thing to say and hear, but so very hard to put into practice. A great reminder today that we are here not for ourselves but for God! Thanks for a great post. :)
