Fresh air and Chicken Races

If you like chickens, you are going to love this next post!! Be sure to check out Lauren's blog at
http://scratchandpeck.blogspot.com/
She is pretty amazing.

Hi there -- I'm Lauren Scheuer.
I'm an illustrator, I'm a mother, a wife, a writer, a coffee drinker, gardener, kayaker.

I am happiest when I'm outdoors.

My chickens feel the same way.
My five hens are a fun-loving bunch.

They enjoy yard work

and relay races.

They've been training for the Olympic Synchronized Pecking team.

The ladies live here (built it myself),

and I live here.

Pigeon is the flock leader.

She has a thing for chives and onions.

She's also partial to chardonnay.

But as far as table manners,
well...we're working on that.

A while back, Pigeon and I built a little coop together.

It turned out pretty cute.

But this past October, we had a freak snowstorm while the trees still had all their leaves,
and the little coop was smooshed.

Fortunately, the girls were all safe in the big coop and nobody was hurt.

And I was secretly thrilled, because I've got a hankerin' to build something new!
Maybe Pigeon will help me with this one too.

Please take a look at my blog, where I write obsessively about my flock:
